A reading for the new screenplay, Ring of Storms, by Greg Kerr © 2012, is being held on Thursday, May 10th, at 7pm at Portland Community College Cascade Campus Moriarty Arts and Humanities Auditorium (on the corner of North Albina and Killingsworth) during Portland Community College’s 25th Annual Art Beat celebration!

“Maggie (Michelle Damis) and Miranda (Mariessa Portelance), survivors of a plane crash off the coast of Northern Canada, attempt to find sanctuary from a storm. After days of struggle, they stumble upon an Inuit camp only to find that another storm is brewing among the native people there. The lives of the survivors are once again threatened as a mystery unfolds — and it’s a secret that the Inuit have kept for countless generations. To find a place of calm, they must first face a storm.”

“‘Ring of Storms’ is high concept, mythical drama,” says writer Greg Kerr. “It has a spiritual element, and although there is violence, there is a powerful, creative, maternal aspect to the story. It’s also very unusual in plays that the three main characters are women, and more than half of the characters are over 50 years old.”

This reading is free as is parking at PCC during the entire week of Art Beat.

Join actresses Michelle Damis and Mariessa Portelance, and writer Greg Kerr who will discuss the play and share their insights.

This play is recommended for mature audiences and contains adult language and descriptions of violence.

A complex thriller in the style of Memento, with a science fiction twist, Unremembered (Indie award winner, feature film, lead actor, original screenplay) is a story told in non-linear time about a man who has no past.

As John Outis begins to restore his fractured life history, he radically alters the lives of his friends, his wife, and his lover. As his past threatens to end his future, he turns to Tina Plantes, a brilliant and unconventional physics professor. Drawn deeper into the bizarre events of John’s life, she discovers a disturbing and far-reaching set of truths about dreams, time, and the power of the human will.

“It’s a complex, intelligent interpretation of the ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey,” says writer/director Greg Kerr. “It’s also a tale about a man who can’t control the chaos in his life, which many people can relate to in our modern world.”

Winner of the Best Narrative Feature at the Great Lakes Independent Film Festival, and Best Sci Fi Feature at the Eugene International Film Festival, Unremembered is “sinuous and riveting” declares A.G. Nigrin, director of the New Jersey Film Festival.

Stars Tim Delaney, Karla Mason, Carmela Ramaglia, Laura Duyn, Spencer Conway

Music Composed by Nan Avant

Written and Directed by Greg Kerr
